Oncology Navigators

Navigating your journey

Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, scary and confusing. To assist our patients and caregivers through the treatment process, MMH offers a patient care navigation program. Our navigators are all registered nurses who provide emotional support, education and guidance to patients and their families during their cancer journey. Their job is to advocate for you, identify barriers in your care and make sure you feel informed. As our patient, you can expect our nurse navigators to also provide the following:

  • Help you undestand your diagnosis
  • Explain procedures, treatments, side effects and other aspects of care
  • Assist with questions to ask your doctors
  • Provide more detailed educational material pertaining to your type of cancer and treatment options
  • Coordinate physician and diagnostic appointments, if needed
  • Function as a hospital "go to" person for staff when needed
  • Provide patients with a primary point of contact
