- Get plenty of sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Adequate sleep helps the body and mind recharge so you can face what lies ahead.
- Move your body: Walk, jog or lift weights. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you move your body. Exercise releases endorphins, which are natural stress relievers.
- Eat right: A balanced diet provides the nutrients you need to support brain function and help regulate your mood.
- Plan your day: Control the day before it controls you! If you have a lot to do, prioritize your agenda for the day, but be realistic about what you can actually accomplish.
- Socialize more: Sharing your feelings with others can lead to a sense of relief and allow you to gain new perspectives on your situation.
- Share the load: If you need help, ask for it. Seeking help and sharing work can make tasks more manageable and enjoyable.
- Do what you love: Try to spend at least 30 minutes a day doing an activity you enjoy. Read a book, work in your garden or experiment with a new recipe in the kitchen.
- Schedule quiet time: Whether you choose to meditate, journal or practice deep breathing exercises, try to disconnect for at least 10 minutes a day.
