Finding balance this Thanksgiving

For many of us, Thanksgiving is one of the most anticipated days of the year — a time filled with family, food and fun. But it can also be a day of overindulgence and inactivity, leaving us sluggish instead of thankful.

Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing day. With a few thoughtful tweaks, you can enjoy your favorite dishes and still feel good. Try these simple tips:

  • Start your day with movement. Join a local Turkey Trot or take a family walk before the big meal. Exercise boosts metabolism, reduces stress and helps you feel more energized.
  • Don’t skip breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast (like oatmeal or yogurt with fruit) prevents overeating later.
  • Fill your plate with color. Half your plate should be vegetables or fruit — think roasted carrots, green beans or a cranberry salad.
  • Savor each bite. Slow down and truly enjoy the flavors of the meal. Your body needs about 20 minutes to recognize fullness.
  • Take an evening walk: Bundle up and enjoy the crisp air after the meal. It’s a great time to reflect and chat with family.

Wellness isn’t about perfection — it’s about making small, sustainable choices that help you feel your best. At MMH, we encourage you to find balance during the holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving!
